"We have to try to discover the inner relationship between these different aspects of Truth and unite them in ourselves. I have to be a Hindu, a Buddhist, a Jain, a Parsee, a Sikh, a Muslim, and a Jew, as well as a Christian, if I am to know the Truth and to find the point of reconciliation in all religion." Fr. Bede Griffiths
"To exist means that we share the task of perfecting self-transcendence through prayer, contemplation, meditation-the nitty -gritty of the spiritual quest." The Mystic Heart, Wayne Teasdale
I would like to have the men of Heaven in my own house: With vats of good cheer laid out for them. I would like to have the three Marys, their fame is so great. I would like people from every corner of Heaven. I would like them to be cheerful in their drinking, I would like to have Jesus too here amongst them. I would like a great lake of beer for the King of Kings, I would like to be watching Heaven's family, drinking it through all eternity. attributed to St. Brigid
My Druid is Christ, the son of God, Christ, Son of Mary, the Great Abbot, The Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.
Kindle in our hearts, O God, the flame of love that never ceases, that it may burn in us, giving light to others. May we shine forever in your temple, set on fire with your eternal light, even your Son Jesus Christ, our Saviour and Redeemer. Amen. Prayer of St. Columcille
"As from a fire aflame thousands of sparks come forth, even so from the Creator an infinity of beings have life and to him return again." ~ Mundaka Upanishad 2:1:1
"Zazen practice is the direct expression of our true nature. Strictly speaking, for a human being, there is no other practice than this practice; there is no other way of life than this way of life." Shunryu Suzuki

The purpose of life
ONE GREAT QUESTION underlies our experience, whether we think about it consciously or not: What is the purpose of life? I have considered this question and would like to share my thoughts in the hope that they may be of direct, practical benefit to those who read them.
I believe that the purpose of life is to be happy. From the moment of birth, every human being wants happiness and does not want suffering. Neither social conditioning nor education nor ideology affect this. From the very core of our being, we simply desire contentment. I don’t know whether the universe, with its countless galaxies, stars and planets, has a deeper meaning or not, but at the very least, it is clear that we humans who live on this earth face the task of making a happy life for ourselves. Therefore, it is important to discover what will bring about the greatest degree of happiness.
"The restoration of the church will surely come from a new kind of monasticism, which will have nothing in common with the old but a life of umcompromising adherence to the Sermon on the Mount in imitation of Christ. I believe the time has come to rally people together for this." Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Dwelling
Breathing in, I calm my body. Breathing out, I smile. Dwelling in the present moment, I know this is a wonderful moment! Thich Nhat Hanh
Traditional Celtic Prayer
I weave a silence on my lips. I weave a silence on my mind. I weave a silence within my heart. I close my ears to distractions. I close my eyes to attentions. I close my heart to temptations. Calm me, o Lord,as you stilled the storm. Still me, o Lord, keep me from harm. Let all the tumult within me cease. Enfold me Lord in your peace.
Tao
Thirty-Seven Tao abides in non-action yet nothing is left undone. If kings and lords observed this, The ten thousand things would develop naturally. If they still desire to act, The would return to the simplicity formless substance. Without form there is no desire. Without form ther is tranquillity. And in this way all things would be at peace. Tao Te Ching, by Lao Tsu
